Hello friends,

In my efforts to make your trip to Uganda simple, I have created this website for you to best prepare. I will continue to update the site with more details as the dates get closer.

Please be sure to ask plenty of questions in the Q&A section. I will post them in this section should your question be of help to the other travelers.

This is a password protected site to assure we are the only once accessing this information. If you've forgotten the password be sure to reach out to me via email text, or phone call.

Sincerely,

This is a post to all those contemplating on doing something different. That person that wants to be

on-the-ground somewhere internationally making a difference in the lives of youth in need. I have a

great opportunity that could benefit greatly with your presence.

The objective of the  Gift of Giving Projects is to enhance the culture of reading

in Uganda by providing reading books, literacy programs, and training for educators.

The project will officially begin in the month of mid May 2016 and will continue throughout the year as we implement the programs, add more schools and receive more donated books. The reading comprehension programs will last 2-3 months in each individual school, allowing for volunteers to participate based on their arrival. The programs will involve children from the age of 5 to 18 years old. Your visit ideally should last 3 weeks to 2 months at the most. Let's talk about it!

You do not need to have teaching credentials, just follow the instructions of the programs verified by the actual educators in place. There are also opportunities to work with youth in the arts and other trades you may be able to support.

This is a charitable project, therefore, you will need to purchase your own round-trip plane ticket. Round trip flights range from from Los Angeles, CA to Entebbe Airport range from $960.00 to $1,800.00 depending on whether you travel during off-peak or peak months.

I will be renting a 2-bedroom home so that I can accommodate visiting volunteers. Food expenses will be shared and minimal as the dollar conversion is high. One US dollar is currently worth $3,700 Ugandan Shillings and will be higher by next year. This means for us using American currency that everything is cheaper. For instant, a full meal at a restaurant will cost you approx. $2.-4.USD. A taxi ride from one side of town to the other ranges from 0.25 - $2.USD

If interested, please feel free to reach out to me so that I may explain the project further.

I have been in Uganda for 5 months in total and in May 2016 I will be staying there for an extend time. Let's join hands and make a difference in the lives of many.

And of course, we will also make time to experience the beauty of Uganda the Pearl of Africa by visiting National Parks, Lake Victoria, the Equator, River Nile, and participate in some fun adventures.

I have built a private password-protected website with details for this mission trip 2016. Upon your serious interest, I will send you the password for blocked pages. In the meantime feel free to review the timeline in the "Books Project" here: www.giftofgivingprojects.com.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know and trust that may want to get involved. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Fanny Martinez
