Swimsuits (most hotels have swimming pools and for visits to Lake Victoria beaches)

Binoculars are great for viewing wildlife during national park visits

Cameras are a must with plenty of battery life

Cellphone (call your carrier for roaming fees for phone calls, text messages and data services. Calls seems to be the most expensive. Sending and receiving text messages are rather cheap. If you install the apps WhatsApp and/or Viber so that if you have at least internet/data service on your phone you can use it to make internet calls)

An external phone charger

2-3 voltage converters (can be found in Target, Fry's Electronics, Walmart or online)

A charger for your cell phone

Personal toiletries like favorite lotion, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products for the ladies, etc.

Your credit and ATM cards. Let your bank know you’ll be traveling abroad before you leave so that they can note your account if you plan to withdraw funds

Driver’s license and/or state ID

Health insurance card. You should also get travel insurance.
